Culling my Sales Platforms: Goodbye to Depop and eBay

Well, the time has arrived. I knew it would happen eventually, and I have finally hit the point where selling on four platforms is just not feasible. For a while, I have been on eBay, Mercari, Depop, and Poshmark. I have decided to pull my inventory completely from Depop and most of it from eBay for now, and will focus on Poshmark and Mercari for making sales. I will share a bit more on why in a later post.

Just for Fun: Junk Drawer Listings on eBay

I wanted to share this interesting thing I found on eBay. It may spark ideas for you for items you can list in your own store. They are “Junk Drawer” listings.  These listings are a random mix of items that look just like someone dumped out grandma’s junk drawer. I love this idea for resellers who have inventory items that are small and difficult to list individually.

What I love most about these listings is that they are a bit of a grab bag. It can be more of a journey than your typical online shopping experience. Junk drawer listings can contain all sorts of unique vintage items from costume jewelry to fine finds from estate sales. Many sellers will list them by type, so you can easily find a junk drawer of just jewelry, or tools for example.

List all the Books!

We have been jumping on the Konmari train and cleaning out a lot of stuff. One step in the process is specifically designated for books. I cleared out the bulk of my academic books before moving to New York, apt so most of these are archaeology textbooks from Jeff that I listed in my eBay store. News from eBay! New Updates are Coming for Sellers

I just got an email from eBay about a new seller update!

What’s in the Update? Among other things, there will now be an offer to buyers feature. Now, sellers will be able to send an offer to users who are watching items. There are some restrictions, and not all listings will qualify right away, but the potential for sellers to initiate offers is a nice update.
