Zip Zip Hooray! A brief history of the zipper

Celebrate the things that hold us together, whether it be family, hobbies, or literal fasteners.

Today is national zipper day, which was established on April 29, 1913 when Gideon Sundbeck revived a patent for his “Separable Fastener,” now commonly known and found everywhere you may need some closure.

In honor of this day, I chose to wear this vintage zipper necklace and earring set. These are just a few pieces out of many that I’ve acquired from my mom over the years.

I find it fascinating to dig into the history of common things. Things that seem simple and intuitive carry a deep history of development. It’s wonderful to notice.

Ta for now ❤️
